Employee Training
Schiber Truck Company employees receive classroom training that utilizes a program tailored to meet DOT’s hazardous materials requirements for the shipping and handling of hazardous materials, wastes, and substances, as well as defensive driving techniques. Our hazwoper training is conducted annually and our other safety training programs are held monthly. Each driver is required to attend one meeting per quarter.

The hazmat modular training program we use was written by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Transportation. This program is updated on an annual basis and presented to the employees. Our hazwoper program was written by the Midwest Consortium for Hazardous Waste Worker Training and the University of Illinois.  A third party administrator handles our drug and alcohol testing.

Along with classroom training, drivers are given hands-on field training for a minimum of two weeks. This training is provided by an experienced driver/trainer to instruct the proper usage of equipment for handling, loading and unloading. Driver reviews are performed at the end of the field training and randomly to ensure the information is retained and in practice.

Code of Ethics
It is the policy of Schiber Truck Company to conduct our business and operations in uniformity with the law and the highest standards of business ethics. To emphasize this policy, Schiber Truck Company has adopted a code of Ethical Business Conduct. This code along with any related polices and guidelines is a public statement of Schiber Truck Company’s firm commitment to integrity, honesty and fairness in all of its operations and activities.

Substance Abuse
An alcohol-free and drug-free work force is critical in the transportation industry in the interest of public safety.  The driver who misuses alcohol and/or uses drugs is a hazard to himself/herself, to other workers and to the general public. It is the company's policy that alcohol abusers and/or drug users be quickly identified and removed from the work environment.
